In this video, we show the repair process as we inspect a wetsuit that arrived at our workshop and perform patch repairs and tape repairs.

Rather than focusing solely on the torn area, we assess the condition of the outer and inner layers, the tape, and the overall wear and tear of the fabric to determine whether the wetsuit is repairable.

About the Repairs Performed This Time

The wetsuit we inspected this time required repairs around the seams and tape areas.

The taped seams on a wetsuit are a very important part of preventing water from entering.
Even if it looks like just a small blister or peel on the outside, checking the inside may reveal that the adhesive has already weakened or that the bond with the fabric has deteriorated.

If you continue to use it as is, the strain on the material will increase when paddling or changing clothes, which may cause leaks or further tears.

When it comes to patch repairs, it’s not just about appearance—usability is important too.

When repairing a wetsuit, it’s not enough to simply patch up the torn area.

Will it still be easy to move around after the repair?
Will it feel uncomfortable when paddling?
Will the same area be subjected to excessive strain when putting it on or taking it off?
Will the finished product effectively prevent water from entering?

We take all of these factors into account when selecting a repair method.

Repair methods vary depending on the condition of the material, especially for rubber and tape sections.
If the fabric is still in good condition, it may be possible to repair it; however, if it has deteriorated too much, forcing a repair may not result in a long-lasting solution.

That’s why, after inspecting the condition of your device, we’ll give you our honest opinion on whether it’s better to repair it or consider buying a new one.

Wetsuits aren't exactly cheap.
Even if you think, “Maybe I can’t use this anymore,” depending on its condition, it may be possible to repair it and keep using it.
